When you start the app we show average speeds for Sweden's four major mobile operators. These speeds are based on all the 2g/3g/4g measurements made with the Bredbandskollen apps (iOS/Android) in your surrounding area over the past calendar year.
If you click on the heading you can switch between viewing the measurements made with all phones or just the measurements made with your specific phone model. This only works if your phone model is included in the statistics (e.g. not all Android phones).
The area that we cover varies between 150-10,000 metres. The size of the area depends on how many measurements have been made there. If there are too few measurements in an area we will widen the search area to get a better statistical average. If there are no measurements made within 10,000 metres, no value will be presented.
We use calendar years, which means that in the fall of 2014, we showed an average of measurements made in the second half of 2014 and during the spring of 2015 we showed measurements made during the first half of 2015. This means that, for example, on each New Year's day, we will base the statistics on relatively few measurements and thus not always show a result. This problem quickly goes away as the Bredbandskollen users make more than 50,000 measurements per day.
The statistics are updated in real time. This means in practice that measurements you make will appear after about 2-5 minutes provided you don't move between measurements. However, you may have to restart the app for it to work.
If you want to explore measurements made in your surroundings we recommend the speed map which you can reach in both the app and on the Web.
